Cricket players do region proud
YOUNG cricketers from Gayndah and Biggenden played in the Wide Bay selection trials last weekend.
Hayden Beresford, William Rolf and Lawson Kenny travelled to Bundaberg as part of the Central and South Burnett under-12 cricket team.
The boys played against Bundaberg and Gympie over the weekend and whilst they didn’t get a win, they certainly put in fine performances.
Central Burnett Cricket Association vice president Malcolm Beresford said, “the boys did us proud”.
He said the team had only been put together last weekend and hadn’t had the chance to do any training together.
And with the bigger teams like Bundaberg training twice a week and playing weekly games it was always going to be tough.
“They played well and it was good to see them taking wickets and high fiving,” Beresford said.
“They make new friends and it’s good to get these young kids involved in cricket.”
