Athletes take on challenging events
Fun run, walk and triathlon put fitness fanatics to the test in Gayndah
GAYNDAH got physical last weekend.
On Saturday things kicked off with the Duke and Duchess Fun Run and Walk, and on Sunday athletes showed grit and determination in the Gayndah District Triathlon.
The Fun Run 2012 Duke was Marvin Membreno and Michelle Fry was crowned as the Duchess.
The high school age winner was Rebecca O’Brien and the primary school winners were Ella Darlington and Dean Thompson.
The overall winners of the triathlon were Richard Reiser and Lisa Baker, with Baker winning her second consecutive Gayndah District Triathlon title.
Event organiser Kirsty Robertson said the event was a “great success”. “A lot of people came downand cheered on their family members and friends,” she said. ■ Winners: Team – Chequered Spark - Lucas Hampson and Brett Holden. Junior 10-12 winners Hugh Reiser, Holly Bryant, and team Some Speed - Grace Robertson, Sophie Evans and Sam O’Brien. Junior 13-16 winner Josh Bryant and team 97s - Josh Robertson, Haydin Elsebach and Ben Kenny. Try It Kids winners Joel Clancy, Torra McDonald and The Invaders team - Tom Colvin, War- wick Pearse and Kaleb Wilkinson. Try it masters winner Lisa Sullivan-Baker and the Can Do team - Lisa Bayntun, Emma Kennedy and Cris Bryant.
