Carnival in doubt
GAYNDAH’S Christmas carnival is in danger of being cancelled.
The Mardi Gras Christmas Carnival has been a major annual event at Gayndah for years, but its future is uncertain due to a lack of support.
The event brings Santa to town to give lollies to the children, and stalls fill the main road. But Gayndah Chamber of Commerce president Hugh McKid said the future of the Christmas carnival was in doubt.
He said the event was struggling due to a “lack of support and manpower”. “We need people to do stalls, particularly sporting organisations and kids’ groups,” he said.
“Any organisation interested in helping out we would appreciate if you could come forward as soon as possible. We don’t want to lose our Christmas carnival.” Groups or individuals who can help should contact Mr McKid at email@example.com.
