The rascally rabbits feast on class crop
MAKING a living off the land is hard work.
Burnett State College Year 9 students are learning just how tough farming can be as part of their agriculture class at Brian Pastures Research Centre.
Students have been growing a variety of vegetables, and have found that the fruits of their labour are under attack from pesky rabbits.
Teacher Mark Harm was teaching the students how to spray their crops, but the main concern was the hares.
“Our onions aren’t doing too well, the hares keep eating them,” Mr Harm said.
The agriculture class is hopeful the next batch of vegetables will fare better.
“We’ve just planted our pumpkins for the summer crops,” Mr Harm said.
