Region prepares to remember fallen soldiers
THIS year marks the 94th anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended the FirstWorldWar.
RemembranceDay on Sunday morning will see the Central and North Burnett pay respects to members of our defence force who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
The presidents of the Gayndah, Biggenden, Mun- dubbera, Mt Perry, Monto and Eidsvold RSLs have invited the whole community to attend their respective Remembrance Day services.
The Gayndah service will begin at 10.45am at the War Memorial on Capper St.
The area around Mundubbera’s cenotaph, which was removed to access a burst pipe several months ago, is being repaired in time for the service.
New cement curbing was put in place last week at the memorial in Lyons St.
The Mundubbera service commences at 11am.
Monto’s Remembrance Day service starts at 10.45am outside the RSL, and will move inside the building at 11am.
The Mt Perry RSL Club will hold a service at Memorial Park on Heusman St, followed by a barbecue lunch for members and their families.
At Eidsvold a service will be held at the state school at 10am tomorrow while Sunday’s service will be held at the RSL Club at 11am.
The ceremony at Biggen- den this Sunday has been prepared by students of the Biggenden State School and the Biggenden RSL Club.
The service at the Memorial Hall will get underway at 11am with a minute’s silence.
Following the service people will be invited to morning tea served by the RSL Women’s Auxiliary inside the hall.
