Re­gion pre­pares to re­mem­ber fallen sol­diers

THIS year marks the 94th an­niver­sary of the sign­ing of the ar­mistice that ended the FirstWorldWar.

Re­mem­branceDay on Sun­day morn­ing will see the Cen­tral and North Bur­nett pay re­spects to mem­bers of our de­fence force who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

The pres­i­dents of the Gayn­dah, Biggen­den, Mun- dub­bera, Mt Perry, Monto and Eidsvold RSLs have in­vited the whole community to at­tend their re­spec­tive Re­mem­brance Day ser­vices.

The Gayn­dah ser­vice will be­gin at 10.45am at the War Memo­rial on Cap­per St.

The area around Mun­dub­bera’s ceno­taph, which was re­moved to ac­cess a burst pipe sev­eral months ago, is be­ing re­paired in time for the ser­vice.

New ce­ment curb­ing was put in place last week at the memo­rial in Lyons St.

The Mun­dub­bera ser­vice com­mences at 11am.

Monto’s Re­mem­brance Day ser­vice starts at 10.45am out­side the RSL, and will move inside the build­ing at 11am.

The Mt Perry RSL Club will hold a ser­vice at Memo­rial Park on Heusman St, fol­lowed by a bar­be­cue lunch for mem­bers and their fam­i­lies.

At Eidsvold a ser­vice will be held at the state school at 10am to­mor­row while Sun­day’s ser­vice will be held at the RSL Club at 11am.

The cer­e­mony at Biggen- den this Sun­day has been pre­pared by students of the Biggen­den State School and the Biggen­den RSL Club.

The ser­vice at the Memo­rial Hall will get un­der­way at 11am with a minute’s si­lence.

Fol­low­ing the ser­vice peo­ple will be in­vited to morn­ing tea served by the RSL Women’s Aux­il­iary inside the hall.
