High achiev­ers praised

STU­DENT ex­cel­lence was cel­e­brated at the Bur­nett State Col­lege an­nual awards evening.

The awards cer­e­mony on Novem­ber 1 filled Gayn­dah’s Town Hall with proud students, teach­ers, par­ents, coun­cil­lors and cit­i­zens.

Prin­ci­pal Corey Mun­son had a mes­sage of praise for his students.

“I ap­plaud you for be­ing recog­nised as a high achiever, be proud and please share this achieve­ment with your fam­ily.”

Act­ing school prin­ci­pal Rick Cass told the students “don’t waste the tal­ents you have... give your­self the best chance to achieve suc­cess”.

Awards were pre­sented for achieve­ments in study, sports, con­duct and ser­vice.

Dux of the school was awarded to Adrian Tay­lor, for be­ing the high­est achiev­ing Year 12 stu­dent.

Sportsper­son of the year was Lucy Thomp­son, af­ter her stel­lar year com­pet­ing at school, dis­trict and state lev­els in mul­ti­ple sports.
