Gayn­dah’s stars win way to state

DOM­I­NA­TION by Gayn­dah’s Lit­tle Ath­let­ics team en­sured mul­ti­ple qual­i­fi­ca­tions in the state com­pe­ti­tion.

The Cen­tral Coast Re­gional Re­lays event took place at Gayn­dah Sports­grounds last Satur­day and ath­letes trav­elled from Isis, Bur­rum Heads, Her­vey Bay and Gayn­dah for the ac­tion.

The re­gional record was smashed by un­der-17 shot-put­ters Hay­den Crofts and Cyrelle Mitchell who broke the pre­vi­ous mixed team record by 2.51m.

The U15 girls 4x100m re­lay team were also record break­ers af­ter run­ning in a time of 58 sec­onds, as Alana Evans, Eron Mitchell, Kirra Mitchell and Tay­lor McCosker crushed the last record by 1.4 sec­onds.

Kyle Crofts, Eron Mitchell and Kirra Mitchell qual­i­fied for the state com­pe­ti­tion in three events each.

The ju­nior ath­letes also had a field day with U7 girls Mad­dyGwin win­ning ev­ery event she en­tered with a per­sonal best time.

Lochlan Terms won the long jump in U8s with a new per­sonal best, and the U8 girls team of So­phie Doyle and Sab­rina Wag­ner won the long jump.

Ben­jamin Doyle had an ex­cel­lent day in the U11 com­pe­ti­tion af­ter set­ting new per­sonal bests in long jump, dis­cus and shot-put.
