Good sports in the pool

SPORTS­MAN­SHIP was on full dis­play at St Joseph’s Pri­mary School swim­ming carnival last Fri­day.

When the re­lay team had no other swim­mer, Patrick Kirk stood up and said he would “give it a go” de­spite hav­ing never swum 50m be­fore.

And just when it looked like Patrick couldn’t go on, chil­dren from both teams all started to chant for Patrick.

He fin­ished strongly to the cheers from the whole school.

It was a fit­ting end to a great day.

Age cham­pi­ons were Holly Bryant (se­nior girl), Clay­ton Gam­ble (se­nior boy), So­phie Young (ju­nior girl) and Tom Colvin (ju­nior boy).
