Local Fishing Reports: Loving this weather for the river fishing at the moment. Fishing going ballistic on lures. Best lures for the goldens and cod seem to be orange and black stump jumpers and orange and black smak spinner baits. On the bait side of things saltwater yabbies still going well. Boondooma Dam: Nice bass and goldens caught by bouncing masked vibes off the bottom as well as jigging SMAK ice jigs around the start of the Stuart and Boyne. Some nice fish coming on spinner baits in the timbered areas of the dam and slow trolling green and gold SMAK 18ft divers has also produced some nice fish. Most of the fish being landed in the timbered areas of the dam. Some good goldens and jew caught on worms and live shrimp. No reports of red claw as yet. Bjelke-Petersen Dam: Live bait seems to be working best at the moment. Goldens have been caught on the troll with hard and soft bodied jackalls. Some big golden perch and bass being caught on salt water yabbies and worms. Lake Somerset: Fishing great at the moment with blades working well. Pelican Point and Queen St still the best areas to fish. Live bait has produced some nice fish as with salt water yabbies. Soft plastics and masked vibes working well around Pelican Point. Coastal: Spanish mackerel on Arkwright Shoal, school and spotty mackerel on Murphy’s Reef and the Inner Gneerings. Bream, flathead and whiting along the beaches at Mooloolaba. Sand whiting at Red and Banksia Beaches, jew at night on soft plastics under the Bribie Bridge. Bream between the bridge and mouth of Ningi Creek and sand crabs in the main channel at Bribie. Offshore: Trag jew and snapper on the 24s east of Southport. Snapper, pearl perch, pigfish and morwong on the 50s east of the Tweed. Small black marlin east of the Pin Bar for some close in stuff.
