140 years racing
ONE hundred and forty years of history will be celebratedwhen the Mt Perry Race Club holds its annual race day on Saturday, November 17.
This event attracts crowds from all over the state, travelling by bus, car or campervan.
The race track also caters for aircraft enthusiasts, with a runway in the centre of the track.
The race day will centre around a five-race program, with bookmakers on hand for betting on local and metropolian races. The fun will continue with fashions of the field and the infamous Jocks Plate novelty event.
A licensed bar and canteen will be available all day and a catered marquee will be available for lunch bookings.
Club secretary Angela Jensen said the Mount Perry Race Club held records of race meets in the area from as early as 1872.
“The success of these early meetings led to the building of the current Mt Perry Racecourse, prior to 1904 and continues today,” she said.
“Predictions are for a great day of racing to mark the historical event of 140 years of racing at Mt Perry.”
Tickets are available at the Mt Perry Racecourse on the day.
Bookings are required before race day for the catered marquee.
