Lemon Quilters show ‘passion’
WHEN opening the latest exhibition at the Mundubbera Regional Art Gallery, Beth Johnson described it as creation which reflects the “wonderful passion” of 18 women who make up the Mundubbera Lemon Quilters.
This is the second exhibition of the works of the quilters and includes all things fabric – quilts, bags, vests, cushions and table runners.
Group organiser Lyn Carlyon said the women were now excited about learning a new art form in February next year if their RADF grant application proved successful.
“I’ve applied for the grant to bring Lorraine Karthew to Mundubbera and if it’s successful the Gayndah Quilters will join us.
“Lorraine is a textile artist, tutor, author and judge who’s travelled all over the world.
“She’ll teach us textile painting and we’ll create an impressionist landscape using tiny pieces of chopped-up material,” Mrs Carlyon said.
The quilting exhibition will be on display at the gallery until Christmas.
