Races take flight

Central and North Burnett Times - - SES WEEK 2012 -

AFTER holding race meets for 140 years, Mt Perry Race Club has a flavour all of its own.

The club has held records of race meets in the area from as early as 1872, and continues to hold annual events.

And few other venues can boast their own air strip.

Mt Perry Race Club staff will be busy putting the inside and outside running rails back up after all the aircraft have safely landed.

It makes for an experience that few other racecourses can match.

“It makes it quite a spectacular sight to see the light aircraft parked in the middle of the track,” Mt Perry Race Club media officer Joy Jensen said. “It’s very unique.” If you are planning on flying into the race meet, be warned that the air strip is for light aircraft only.
