CRICKETERS and athletes are already ready honing their skills in Mundubbera in preparation for the seven-a-side Cricket Calcutta and Sprint Race.

This event will take place on Saturday, February 2, at 6pm and promises to draw plenty of competitors.

On the Saturday night the cal- cutta for the cricketmatches will be held and the sprint races will take place for women, men and novelty categories across 100m.

From 8am on Sunday the cricket games will start with the final to be held at about 9pm.

The seven-a-side cricket competition has been held annually in Mundubbera for more than 25 years and draws cricketers from across Queensland.

The teams contain social cricketers as well as seasoned, serious competitors who vie for more than $4000 in prize money. The event will take place at the Martin Love Oval in Archer Park.

A committed player said the event would be an excellent weekend for spectators and participators.

He said more than 50 teams took part last year

“This next event is going to be great,” he said.

Keen cricketers will be polishing their bats and balls in anticipation.
