STATE Emergency Service volunteers from Gayndah and Biggenden have been awarded for their outstanding contributions to the service.

Biggenden volunteers Kerry Ray and Janice Rae and Gayndah volunteer John Lamb received awards at the SES Awards Week ceremony in Gympie last Saturday.

Mr Lamb received an SES Awards Week certificate for invaluable service to the community and exceptional dedication to his unit.

Gayndah SES captain David Wilson said Mr Lamb was “involved with everything we do” and the award was “really deserved”.

Biggenden SES local controller Kerry Rae and wife Janice both received their 10 Year Merit Awards.

Mrs Rae said the SES was very rewarding.

“It is worthwhile, especially with the knowledge and skills we have obtained,” she said.

“In my eyes, no matter how old you are, no knowledge is wasted knowledge.”
