Biggenden school community forum
AS a requirement of its National Partnership Program, the Biggenden State School organises a School Community Forum each year.
TheNational Partnership Program is an initiative of the Federal Government to support schools in lowsocio-economic areas.
The funding that comes with it is to improve numeracy and literacy, which is believed to be closely tied to improving student personal development and creating closer links with the local community.
Personal development programs are offered by support staff including the chaplain, school based health nurse, youth workers and counsellors.
The bush walking program is another initiative in this area.
Community engagement occurs by inviting parents and families to school events, parent education morning teas and the community forum.
About 80 people have attended the 2012 forum includingNorth Burnett Regional Mayor DonWaugh and Cr Lofty Wendt.
Acting principal Katrina Bayldon welcomed guests and invited them to participate in the many surveys available aswell as a tour of the trade training centre, home economics building and science laboratory.
