Monto new­comer ready for new chal­lenge

HE’S the new kid on the block – well maybe not so much a kid but he is def­i­nitely new to Monto.

Kevin Fox took up the po­si­tion of cen­tre man­ager and com­mu­nity devel­op­ment of­fi­cer for the Monto Com­mu­nity Devel­op­ment Coun­cil Inc on Novem­ber 12.

The 58-year-old is mar­ried to Lor­raine and fa­ther to Matthew, 25, and Laura, 21.

He ar­rived in Monto af­ter liv­ing the last four years in Mt Mor­gan.

Be­fore that the fam­ily lived in Rockhampton from 1994 af­ter liv­ing in Emer­ald and West­ern Aus­tralia’s Kim­ber­ley.

Mr Fox worked in in­dige­nous com­mu­ni­ties in the Kim­ber­leys on three oc­ca­sions over 10 years.

Af­ter re­ceiv­ing a Bach­e­lor of Arts De­gree in So­ci­ol­ogy and Com­mu­ni­ca­tion/Cul­ture in his early 40s he was ap­pointed re­spite ser­vices man­ager for Mul­t­i­cap Rockhampton.

He started his own com­pany in part­ner­ship with his wife and three oth­ers, sup­port­ing peo­ple with dis­abil­i­ties, the aged and chil­dren in care.

Mr Fox’s main sport­ing ac­tiv­ity is lawn bowls.

He said he saw his new po­si­tion as an ad­di­tion to the wide range of chal­lenges he has taken on.

He is look­ing for­ward to many years of liv­ing and work­ing along­side the res­i­dents of the re­gion.
