Monto newcomer ready for new challenge
HE’S the new kid on the block – well maybe not so much a kid but he is definitely new to Monto.
Kevin Fox took up the position of centre manager and community development officer for the Monto Community Development Council Inc on November 12.
The 58-year-old is married to Lorraine and father to Matthew, 25, and Laura, 21.
He arrived in Monto after living the last four years in Mt Morgan.
Before that the family lived in Rockhampton from 1994 after living in Emerald and Western Australia’s Kimberley.
Mr Fox worked in indigenous communities in the Kimberleys on three occasions over 10 years.
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Communication/Culture in his early 40s he was appointed respite services manager for Multicap Rockhampton.
He started his own company in partnership with his wife and three others, supporting people with disabilities, the aged and children in care.
Mr Fox’s main sporting activity is lawn bowls.
He said he saw his new position as an addition to the wide range of challenges he has taken on.
He is looking forward to many years of living and working alongside the residents of the region.
