Future leaders gather

Central and North Burnett Times - - RURAL UPDATE - ❏ Sue Harris

A SUCCESSFUL leadership workshop was held at the RM Williams Australian Bush Learning Centre last week thanks to sponsorship by Growcom and the Queensland government and delivery by Jacqui Rochester, from the University of Queensland Gatton Vocational Education Centre.

The two-day program gave practical training and information to managers, supervisors and team leaders and those aspiring to take on those roles.

The workshop covered topics such as effective communication that will develop trust, respect and confidence; identifying and analysing difficult situations and taking suitable actions; managing conflict constructively and effectively operating as a team.

Once participants’ work has been checked to verify they met course requirements, they will be issued with an accredited unit of competency.

Participants found the course both practical and interesting and taught strategies which they could begin applying immediately in their workplaces.

Another workshop is being held in Gayndah shortly.
