Racing on one ski
COOPER Anne Fotheringham wants to represent her hometown and Paradise Dam in competitive-water-skiing.
But she needs sponsorship.
The Biggenden local has been waterskiing for 11 years, and for the past two years she has been mastering one ski.
“Ever since I was little, I have liked the sport,” Fotheringham said.
“It is fast, fun, exciting. I get to meet new people and travel to newplaces.”
She has her sights set on competing in ski drag racing and endurance. Races are held every month at Sandy Hook, Bundaberg and on rivers in Queensland and northern New South Wales.
Fotheringham said she would be competing as a representative for Paradise Dam at Biggenden in the junior division 80kmh category.
Paradise Dam manager Corey Goldie said he was “very excited” about sponsoring Fotheringham. Mr Goldie donated $1200 towards her safety gear.
“It is good to see Cooper and her family at the dam for training,” he said.
“They normally try to get out here each weekend, weather permitting.”
