Central and North Burnett Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

LAST week 14 participants from throughout the North Burnett took advantage of the free Transition 2012 New Entrant Driving Program to complete the theory component of their heavy rigid truck licence at the RM Williams Australian Bush Learning Centre in Eidsvold.

Funded by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, and supported by the North Burnett Regional Council, this job and skill development initiative is the first of its kind to be delivered locally.

On completion, the aspiring truck drivers will be prepared to take on employment in the transport industry.

Over the next three weeks, groups of five will go to Maryborough to complete the practical aspect of the program.

Participant Dave Maynard is in Maryborough this week and said he was most impressed with the course.

“The instructor in Eidsvold made everything interesting and answered any questions we had. It was the best course I’ve ever done,” Mr Maynard said.
