Beautiful boost for Monto
THE beautification of Monto has received a boost.
Thanks to a Queensland Gas Corporation grant, a timber fence will be built along the railway line on the Burnett Hwy.
Eidsvold-based building contractor Grant Nagle said his team would work through to the end of next week to get the job done.
“We are building a heritage fence,” he said.
“There is no wire. It is all timber.”
Mr Nagle said he had sourced the timber from narrow leaf ironbark trees on a private property near Monto.
North Burnett Councillor Paul Lobegeier said fence-building was a lost art.
“This fence will build pride in the town for locals and make the town more pleasing to visitors,” Cr Lobegeier said.
The project is a continuation of a QGC grant to beautify the town.
