ST THERESE’S speech night was at­tended by about 200 peo­ple at its school grounds in Monto.

There were many proud award re­cip­i­ents, but one of the high­lights was school cap­tain Luka Hill be­ing awarded North Bur­nett Schools’ Sportswoman of the Year.

Luka has ex­celled in cricket, net­ball, soft­ball, soc­cer and ath­let­ics.

“I would like to thank Mum and Dad for all their sup­port and I am look­ing for­ward to Rockhampton Girls’ Gram­mar next year,” Luka said.

Luka also re­ceived the St Therese Nano Na­gle Award in me­mory of the founder of the school’s or­der. The award is the high­est at St Therese’s and goes to the stu­dent who best re­flects the qual­i­ties of Nano Na­gle.

Jette Klijn was awarded the Ro­tary Aca­demic Achieve­ment Bur­sary for dux of the school.

Prin­ci­pal Tim Franz­mann said the night re­flected the well­rounded ed­u­ca­tion of­fered by the school.

“Iwas par­tic­u­larly happy with school cap­tains’ speeches. It­was very sat­is­fy­ing to hand out all the awards as ev­ery­one has worked so hard,” Mr Franz­mann said.

The St Therese fam­ily farewells not only the Year 7 group, but also teach­ers Christina Nor­ris and Alexan­dra Baker.
