Burnett Mary group helps region control plant pests

Central and North Burnett Times - - RURAL UPDATE -

INVASIVE weeds like cat’s claw creeper have gained a stranglehold in the Burnett Mary region after two seasons of high rainfall – but community groups are on the warpath.

The Burnett Mary Regional Group has allocated $45,000 for North Burnett and Noosa and District Landcare Groups, Greater Mary Association and Bunya Mountains Murri Rangers to create integrated weed management demonstration sites at locations throughout the Burnett Mary region.

Diverse sites have been selected to focus on Aboriginal natural and cultural values and peri-urban and agricultural values.

Public field days will be held at each site next April to demonstrate the results of integrated weed management actions taken by each group in the program.
