Nail-biter to Grass­cut­ters

Awards handed out to cel­e­brate end of touch sea­son for 2012

SCORES were tied at full time in a tense touch foot­ball grand fi­nal.

The A-grade game be­tween Grass­cut­ters and Shock­waves went to a drop off to de­cide brag­ging rights for the sum­mer sea­son.

And the Gayn­dah Touch Foot­ball cham­pi­onship went to the Grass­cut­ters, win­ning 5-4.

The player of the fi­nal was Ciaren Dougherty.

In the ju­niors com­pe­ti­tion the Red and Green teams were the top two teams.

The Ju­nior Reds built an unas­sail­able 8-3 lead and went on to win the grand fi­nal.

In the B-grade grand fi­nal the Gayn­dah Jewellers de­feated Stop N Go 8-5.

B-grade player of the fi­nal was James Dun­can.

In the C-grade fi­nal River­bend won af­ter Toolies for­feited the game.

Acer­e­mony af­ter the games saw An­nika Dar­ling­ton awarded best and fairest un­der-20 fe­male, and Matt Schif­fke the best and fairest U20 male.

Best and fairest fe­male was Kerri Good­win and best and fairest male was David Shep­herd.

The awards for most tries for the sea­son went to Tim Zahl for the men and Bec Kenny for the women.
