Let your fluoride opinions be known

Central and North Burnett Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

NORTH Burnett Mayor Don Waugh is urging residents to make their views on fluoride known to their councillors.

Next year the council will vote to decide whether or not to cease the fluoride program in North Burnett towns.

The town water supplies of Mon- to, Mundubbera and Gayndah have been fluoridated for a year after anti-fluoride protests fell on deaf ears.

NBRC’s last general meeting for 2012was in Biggenden on Tuesday, but fluoride wasn’t on the agenda.

Cr Waugh said the council had not been fully reimbursed from the State Government for money it outlaid for fluoridation infrastructure and couldn’t risk losing these funds by announcing a decision.

NBRC chief executive Mark Pitt said if a decisionwas reached to remove fluoride, the council must have determined it was in the best interests of the community.
