Fishing Reports

Central and North Burnett Times - - LOCAL SPORT -

Fishing seems to be going well with lures at the moment. Stump Jumpers in the 75mm and 55mm seem to be the lures of choice for the big goldens and smarter cod. Saltwater yabbies on the bottom are still working, with the weather quickly warming up. Boondooma Dam: There are lots of big bass and golden perch being landed on trolled SMAK 5/8 spinner baits in the timbered sections of the dam. The odd golden and jewfish is being caught on live shrimp at the start of the Stuart timber and deep rocky points. Bjelke-Petersen Dam: Nice big golden perch being caught on SMAK Mini Coopers in white, red and black colours. Try casting them to the deep edges for a good chance of a bite. Bass are plentiful at the moment, being caught on blades around the deep points in 25ft of water. There are some nice fish in the timber being caught on live shrimp and salt water yabbies. The dam is fishing really well, with no major change this week. If you’re on holidays, make sure you get out there and enjoy it while the conditions are good. Lake Somerset: Somerset is also fishing really well at the moment, with mask vibes doing the job nicely for many fishers. Pelican Point and Queen St are still the best areas to fish. Live bait has produced some nice fish as with salt water yabbies. There is still no change this week.
