Twins arrive on 12-12-12
TAMMY Fletcher and Ricky Smith had hoped to enjoy watching their children perform in the Dallarnil State School’s end-of-year concert, Rockin’ Robin, last Wednesday night. Instead, just as Santa appeared at the concert, Tammy was rushed through to the Bundaberg Hospital, where an emergency caesarean was performed to deliver her twins. Born at just 26 weeks and five days, they were just in time to celebrate their birth date on December 12, 2012. Born at 11.23pm and 11.24pm, Anjela weighed in at 830g and RJ at 950g. The twins were flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where both babies are “doing well” surrounded by the whole family. Ms Fletcher said she had given birth prematurely before, but not by this much. “I don’t know why it happened but it was a bit of a shock,” she said. The couple will go to and from their Dallarnil home to Brisbane. It could be more than six weeks before the twins come home.
PRECIOUS: Anjela Smith was born weighing 830g.
