RETURNING again to the North Burnett this holiday period are the popular, free Music on the Wall work-shops for children.
Although the Gayndah workshops, which start today, are fully booked, kids from Gayndah can attend Mundubbera, Biggenden or Eidsvold if they wish, as there are still vacancies.
“During the workshops the kids will be painting their own calico bag, doing canvas paintings, and designing their own cartoon T-shirts (a painting and a craft each day),” copresenter Amie Gilholme said.
“We are looking forward to seeing the inspirational work the kids produce. As the workshops are RADF-funded, there is no cost to attend.”
Music on the Wall painting workshops were provided to more than 120 young people aged six to 18 in the Burnett region at sessions in 2011 and 2012.
More than 240 canvases were completed and an adult workshop was al- so requested and run.
This year, to make things more interesting, the workshops are taking on a new name with two activities being completed each day; one a painting on canvas task (with a difference) and the other a fabric creation (a cartoon T-shirt and a painted calico carry bag).
Bookings are required due to limited places. Children between the ages of six and 15 who love music and like to be creative are welcome to attend.
Biggenden workshops are being held on Monday and Tuesday, January 14 and 15.
Workshops in Mundubbera this year will be held in St Mary’s Church hall in Stuart-Russell St next Thursday and Friday, January 17 and 18.
The final workshop will be held in Eidsvold on January 19.
Both presenters hold current working with children Blue Cards.
