IGA manager welcomed
MONTO IGA has welcomed a new manager for the new year.
Peter Gibney arrived on December 28 from his posting at IGA Daisy Hill.
Mr Gibney, 57, has worked in supermarkets his entire working life after finishing school and entering the Wool-worths Management Training Program. He then worked throughout Queensland and also spent some time in Darwin before moving from Woolworths to IGA.
Mr Gibney is fast becoming a local, having joined the RSL, and he is about to join the golf club.
He has nothing but praise for the spirit of Monto.
“I cannot believe how welcoming and warm people are in this town,” he said.
“I have had more people wave and say g’day to me in a week in Monto than 10 years in Brisbane.”
Mr Gibney is married and has two adult children.
