THERE must be something in the water as Biggenden has gained its second set of twins within a month.
For Vicky Barkle, waking up with pains on New Year’s Day was a bit of a shock, especially when it was seven weeks early for her twins.
But after a visit to Biggenden Hospital and a road trip by ambulance with medical staff to Hervey Bay, her twins, a boy and a girl, were born at 10.55pm and 11.05pm, respectively, that night.
John Darryl weighed in at 1930g and Letisha Rose at 2000g.
Mrs Barkle said the twins were doing well and doctors were happy with their progress.
“I expect to be downhere for a while, possibly their actual gestation of February 18, but then if they continue to progress we may be transferred to Bundaberg,” she said.
Mrs Barkle and husband Darryl, along with their other children, Nick, Chloe, De Moya and Victoria, are enjoying spending quality time with the new additions before heading off to school.
And for the other set of twins born on December 12 at 26 weeks, parents Rick and Tamara Smith, of Dallarnil, said they are progressing fine.
The family is back home, getting their other children ready for school, but will head back to Brisbane next week to see their “little miracles”.
