Rodeo man feats in song

A MU­SI­CAL ren­di­tion of the life and rough-rid­ing feats of lo­cal rodeo le­gend Os­car Chap­man re­sulted from a visit to Eidsvold’s aged care fa­cil­ity by mem­bers of Mun­dub­bera Writ­ers Group.

The group vis­ited as part of the cel­e­bra­tion of 125 years of gold min­ing in Eidsvold and read its works to res­i­dents.

Dur­ing the visit, mem­ber Robyn Cruick­shank met rodeo le­gend Os­car Chap­man, who is well known in the area as a cham­pion rodeo rider.

Ms Cruick­shank writes in a num­ber of gen­res, in­clud­ing bush po­etry, coun­try bal­lads and short sto­ries.

She be­came in­trigued byMr Chap­man’s rec­ol­lec­tion of his ca­reer as a rodeo rider and penned a bal­lad.

It was put to mu­sic and recorded on CD by Graeme Jensen, a well known en­ter­tainer in the Wide Bay. It in­cludes an epic ride at Eidsvold, when Mr Chap­man was a young man.
