Rodeo man feats in song
A MUSICAL rendition of the life and rough-riding feats of local rodeo legend Oscar Chapman resulted from a visit to Eidsvold’s aged care facility by members of Mundubbera Writers Group.
The group visited as part of the celebration of 125 years of gold mining in Eidsvold and read its works to residents.
During the visit, member Robyn Cruickshank met rodeo legend Oscar Chapman, who is well known in the area as a champion rodeo rider.
Ms Cruickshank writes in a number of genres, including bush poetry, country ballads and short stories.
She became intrigued byMr Chapman’s recollection of his career as a rodeo rider and penned a ballad.
It was put to music and recorded on CD by Graeme Jensen, a well known entertainer in the Wide Bay. It includes an epic ride at Eidsvold, when Mr Chapman was a young man.
