Central and North Burnett Times - - OPINION -

I WOULD like to welcome everyone back to the new year as we prepare for what may be a challenging year with the weather being drier than what we have experienced in previous Januarys, and continuing changes in policies of both state and federal governments as all departments continue to make adjustments to meet the fiscal challenges currently facing the entire developed world.

Mundubbera Community Development Association will continue to assist in supporting the community members of the North Burnett by delivering a diverse range of services including the well utilised Financial Management Program.

The association continues to develop strategies to deliver programs to assist vulnerable and disadvantaged persons and has a number of new initiatives to trial to encourage community participation.

The association has recently launched the concept of the Reading Tent and this concept will visit all towns in the region during the year with an activity planned for each week to promote increased reading skills for families with young children.

The well supported Local Blokes Local Answers program will continue and a number of support groups will be developed as an identified need as a direct outcome of this project.

The program will endeavour to attract a diverse range of speakers to meet the outcomes of feedback from participants.

The Broadband for Seniors Computer Training and the Catch Up Computer Tutoring service is recommencing and the association encourages all community members to engage and increase their awareness of the benefits of utilising technology.

The long-running Movie Mornings will not be delivered each month due to limited support, however most other projects will continue while there is an identified community need.

If you wish to engage in any of the activities of the Mundubbera Community Development Association or wish to discuss what you consider a gap in services available, phone 4165 4690.
