VERY few meat­works cat­tle were yarded in Mur­gon on Tues­day with agents yard­ing 400 head for the first sale of 2013.

Feed­lot weight cat­tle made up the big­ger per­cent­age of the yard­ing.

Drought­mas­ter steers from Mur­gon, weigh­ing 450kg, sold for $806 at 179c/kg.

Sim­men­tal-cross steers, also from Mur­gon, sold for 179c, re­turn­ing $776 at 433kg, while 373kg char­bray steers, ac­count A and K Zerner of Moon­dooner, sold for $673 or 180c.

Band LThun, Win­dera, sold two pens of gelvieh brah­man­cross steers for $578 or 184c and $574 at 175c.

Fresh con­di­tioned 340kg char­bray steers from Kin­garoy sold for $600 or 177c.

Brah­man heifers weigh­ing 412kg sold for $676 at 164c while 385kg brah­man-cross heifers sold for $639 at 166c, while their 332kg sis­ters sold for $545 at 164c.

Mur­ray grey-cross heifers weigh­ing 305kg from Cloyna sold for $494 to feed­lot­ters while Mur­ray grey cows and calves sold to $720.
