MONTO Junior Cricket Club will host members of the Queensland Fire women’s cricket team for a coaching clinic on January 18.

Courtney Hill and Beth Mooney will be joined by Wide Bay regional cricket manager Paul Trace at Monto Combined Sports Grounds for a day of learning skills and having fun. The day is free and open to children of any level of cricketing ability.

Monto Junior Cricket Club secretary Tracey Pattie said the members of the women’s cricket team were travelling to the town at their own expense and a minimum of 15 attendees was required to make their journey worthwhile. So far, 12 have confirmed.

“We don’t care about ability, we just need more people, from children to adults, helping in whatever way they can in the club,” Pattie said.

The club offers coaching and competition on Wednesdays, from 4–5pm for five to eight-year-olds, and from 3.30–5.30pm for eight years and older.

There will be a meeting at the Monto Pool on January 18 at noon to discuss a change of competition day from Wednesday to Saturday and to attract more volunteers.

Anyone wanting to become involved with Monto Junior Cricket Club, can phone Tracey Pattie on 0487 672 229 or email traceymatt@big
