Lofty shows artis­tic flair

COUN­CIL­LOR Lofty Wendt is “over the moon” with his paint­ing for an up­com­ing fundraiser for the Gayn­dah Art Gallery.

Twelve com­mu­nity mem­bers, none of them nec­es­sar­ily artists, have each been given a blank can­vas to trans­form into a paint­ing be­fore early March.

Along with Cr Wendt, the other good sports in­clude He­len Walker, Ed­wina Ran­dall, Don Waugh, Elaine Ung, Anne marie McGil­very, Chris Sei­d­ner, Avelino DeNo­brega, Greg Hafner, An­drew Goldie, Wendy Lutvey, and Rob Pic­colo.

Each artist will be pro­vided with a men­tor if they wish and CrWendt turned to the Biggen­den Art Group for ex­tra help.

He said he knew with his sched­ule he had to get in and get the work com­pleted early.

“The art group has been fan­tas­tic,” he said.

“I looked at some­thing iconic and set­tled on the old Biggen­den But­ter Fac­tory build­ing.”

CrWendt’s mas­ter­piece should be able to be viewed in a windo win Biggen­den Place in Fe­bru­ary.

The art­works will all be auc­tioned at a wine and cheese night on March 6 at the Gayn­dah Art Gallery.
