Be rewarded at the 2013 All Breeds Steer Sale
THE All Breeds Steer Sale at Biggenden on Thursday, February 7 will bring cattle from Rockhampton to Theodore, Taroom to the Brisbane Valley and everywhere in between.
Livestock salesman Paul Hastings from Eidsvold said people would need a compass to track down the origin of the steers at the sale.
Despite prolonged dry conditions across much of Queensland, the market at Biggenden cattle sales has been holding up well.
Cattle that fit feedlot specifications are selling well and quality cattle are still in high demand.
Burnett Livestock and Realty director Lance Whitaker said the steer sale was renowned for its high volume of excellent quality steers.
He said quality cattle were always sought after, whatever the weather.
“The steer sale always has a speedy pace, with prompt post-sale processing,” he said.
“Biggenden Saleyards has recently had an air-operated draft installed to speed up post-sale weighing, ensuring vendors receive post-sale data quickly.”
Mr Whitaker said vendors were encouraged to deliver their steers by 6pm or earlier on Wednesday, February 6, to ensure drafting and penning presented steers at their best.
“The livestock team pen steers to make lines of breeds, a strategy that brings more money for cattle and keeps buyers of a preferred breed happy,” he said.
“The steer sale has historically always hit above market prices, a valuable trend in our current weather conditions.
“As rainfall remains elusive across most of Queensland, receiving the extra edge on your prices is significant.”
Mr Hastings said if it didn’t rain there would be more cat- tle entering the market from all over Queensland.
“The steer sale pre-empts this influx, with its timing in early February,” he said.
Cattle producers should contact the Burnett Livestock and Realty office on 4127 1277 or any of the livestock team to book steers in for the sale.
Spaces fill fast and the sale is too good to miss.
