Rabobank will support Burnett livestock sale
RABOBANK, the world’s leading food and agribusiness bank, has thrown its support behind the Burnett Livestock All Breeds Steer Sale.
Rabobank’s senior rural manager at Bundaberg Chris Ellem said Rabobank welcomed the opportunity to be involved in this key local event.
Mr Ellem said while the region was looking for some timely rain to ease the drier than normal conditions, he was expecting a strong yarding for the steer sale.
“It is dry at the moment, however there are some good cattle out there and we have seen some strong prices for the right cattle over the past month,” Mr Ellem said.
This is the first time the Rabobank Bundaberg branch has sponsored the Burnett Livestock Steer Sale.
Mr Ellem said events like this were important for the local branch to sponsor.
“At Rabobank, we like to support the communities we live and work in,” he said.
“Rabobank’s key focus is agricultural and we back up this service to rural and regional areas with our Food and Agribusiness Research Unit, which boasts a team of senior analysts to cover all major rural commodities.
“This service continually provides our clients with up to date information about their commodity and future trends.”
Mr Ellem grew up on a sheep and cattle property at Barcaldine and is no stranger to the beef industry or rural communities.
“I have basically been working in, or with, the rural industry all my life,” he said.
“After finishing university, I worked for a livestock agency, worked on properties in western and northern Queensland and spent time as a rural financial counsellor before joining Rabobank 11 years ago.”
In a world where Australian primary producers are extremely important to the global food chain, as food demand is projected to outstrip supply, Mr Ellem said it was important Rabobank supported events like the Burnett Livestock Steer Sale.
