Bikers put their money where the heart is
MONTO’S St John Ambulance Division will benefit from a $200 donation from the Monto Bunyips Motorcyclists.
St John Ambulance Monto division manager Col Harris said he was very grateful for the show of support and the funds would be deposited into an account at head office in Brisbane.
This account is used for purchasing equipment for the Monto Division but as Mr Harris only learnt of the donation on Monday there has not been time to work out how it will be used.
“Funds are very hard to get so we really appreciate a donation like this,” he said.
“We haven’t worked out what we need yet as we only just found out sowe will need a meet- ing to decide how it will be spent.
“The division is already booked for a number of events in the region so we certainly need equipment for treating people.”
Bunyips’ secretary Sue Williams said the group was a collection of motorcycle enthusiasts who raised funds for important community projects.
Ms Williams said the group identified those in need.
“And then we do a ride to raise funds and when camping we are tough guys toasting marshmallows,” she said.
“We welcome anyone with a motorcycle. We are motorcycle enthusiasts who raise funds for important projects and have fun along the way.”
The Bunyips are not an official motorcycle club. They have social meetings for anyone who rides a motorcycle.
The Bancroft Sports Committee has also recently received a $100 donation from the group.
To join the Bunyips please contact the President Rob Mitchell at Kewpie Monto or call Sue Williams on 0467 261 817.
