Res­i­dents urged to help get Monto the aid it needs

MONTO res­i­dents will meet tonight to dis­cuss plans to get the town back on track.

A Monto Ratepay­ers and Res­i­dents As­so­ci­a­tion rep­re­sen­ta­tive said the town need- ed to unite to put a case to all lev­els of government for re­cov­ery as­sis­tance.

“The at­ten­tion is all on the coast and we need the army to re­pair roads and fences here right now,” the rep­re­sen­ta­tive said.

“Farm­ers need non-tax­able grants and we need food drops. We need this done now.

“This is a chance for all com­mu­nity mem­bers to make a pos­i­tive con­tri­bu­tion to get­ting back on track.

“All com­mu­nity mem­bers, not just a few, should at­tend, to put a case to all lev­els of government for di­rect and im­me­di­ate as­sis­tance.”

The meet­ing will be at Monto Com­mu­nity Hall tonight at 7.30pm.
