Firies ride for burns unit
THE Monto Auxilliary Fire Station will be represented in the Bike 4 Burns charity bike ride.
Greg Barnett, Marty Harm and Justin Hiscock will hit the road on May 15 for seven days, covering 840km to raise funds for the children’s burns unit at the Royal Children’s Hospital. The ride will start at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, head up the coast to Gayndah, and then go back via the inland way.
There will be about 50 riders from permanent, auxilliary and rural fire brigades taking part.
Marty Harm said the team had been keenly training for the event.
“You have to be training and be fit aswe will be averaging 120km a day,” he said.
“It is a good adventure, great for making friends and all for a good cause. We would like to say a big thank you to all who have purchased tickets so far.”
It is not too late to donate as there will be people selling tickets at various stops along the way, during the ride.
The three men have a special motivation for the ride as it was a Monto rider who won it last year.
