Tigers blown away by Eagles
THE first half of the Mundubbera v Eidsvold rugby league clash at Eidsvold was embarrassing for Tigers’ supporters who witnessed the Eagles scoring 40 points to Tigers six.
The second half saw the tables turn with Mundubbera Tigers adding 32 and Eidsvold Eagles adding only 16. At full-time the Eagles emerged the winners 56-38.
Eidsvold’s Matthew Chapman, Ivan Collins and Stanley Bligh each crossed Mundubbera’s line in the first 15 minutes of play and Blight converted all three tries.
Luti Helotu Fifitha opened the scoring for Mundubbera and Gage Paulson added the extras to take the score to 18-6.
Four more tries – to Collins, Bert Beezley and Bligh, 2 – were scored by the Eagles before halftime and two of these were converted by Bligh while the Tigers’ score remained unchanged.
The Mundubbera team received a boost at halftime with the arrival of some more players.
Just two minutes into the second half, Fifitha crossed again for the Tigers but the conversion was waved away.
Eidsvold’s Joshua Pope also crossed for an unconverted try but Mundubbera was fighting back.
Tries by Roateson Teu and Sinia Pese were converted by Paulson and the Eagles responded with a try to Tyrell Collins and Cassius Collins adding the extras.
In less than 10 minutes 16 points were added to the Tigers’ score thanks to two tries to Tevita Moniato, one to Lesil Pailate and Paulson’s successful conversion of two.
The Eagles continued to fight and Cassius Collins scored the final try of the night with Bligh adding the extras.
The next Central Burnett games will be played on May 11 with another home game for Eidsvold Eagleswho take onGayndah Gladiators and the Monto Roos travel to Theodore.
