Tigers blown away by Ea­gles

THE first half of the Mun­dub­bera v Eidsvold rugby league clash at Eidsvold was em­bar­rass­ing for Tigers’ sup­port­ers who wit­nessed the Ea­gles scor­ing 40 points to Tigers six.

The sec­ond half saw the ta­bles turn with Mun­dub­bera Tigers adding 32 and Eidsvold Ea­gles adding only 16. At full-time the Ea­gles emerged the win­ners 56-38.

Eidsvold’s Matthew Chap­man, Ivan Collins and Stan­ley Bligh each crossed Mun­dub­bera’s line in the first 15 min­utes of play and Blight con­verted all three tries.

Luti Helotu Fi­fitha opened the scor­ing for Mun­dub­bera and Gage Paul­son added the ex­tras to take the score to 18-6.

Four more tries – to Collins, Bert Bee­z­ley and Bligh, 2 – were scored by the Ea­gles be­fore half­time and two of th­ese were con­verted by Bligh while the Tigers’ score re­mained un­changed.

The Mun­dub­bera team re­ceived a boost at half­time with the ar­rival of some more play­ers.

Just two min­utes into the sec­ond half, Fi­fitha crossed again for the Tigers but the con­ver­sion was waved away.

Eidsvold’s Joshua Pope also crossed for an un­con­verted try but Mun­dub­bera was fight­ing back.

Tries by Roate­son Teu and Sinia Pese were con­verted by Paul­son and the Ea­gles re­sponded with a try to Tyrell Collins and Cas­sius Collins adding the ex­tras.

In less than 10 min­utes 16 points were added to the Tigers’ score thanks to two tries to Te­vita Mo­ni­ato, one to Le­sil Pailate and Paul­son’s suc­cess­ful con­ver­sion of two.

The Ea­gles con­tin­ued to fight and Cas­sius Collins scored the fi­nal try of the night with Bligh adding the ex­tras.

The next Cen­tral Bur­nett games will be played on May 11 with an­other home game for Eidsvold Ea­gleswho take onGayn­dah Gla­di­a­tors and the Monto Roos travel to Theodore.
