MONTO Polocrosse Club hosted a suc­cess­ful car­ni­val de­spite not field­ing a team in the event.

The event at­tracted 14 se­nior teams and nine ju­nior teams, with about 150 peo­ple in at­ten­dance.

Teams trav­elled fromWan­doan, Emer­ald, Cal­liope, Chin­chilla and Nebo-St Lawrence.

The A-Grade fi­nal­was a com­pet­i­tive en­counter with­Wan­doan edg­ing out Bauhinia One.

With most teams com­pris­ing both male and fe­male play­ers, the strength of theWan­doan teamwas re­flected in Amanda Moore be­ing awarded Best Lady Player and Jacko Moore tak­ing the Best Gen­tle­man Player.

The Monto club has not fielded a team in al­most two years and this is the first car­ni­val they have hosted since.

Monto club sec­re­tary Robert Ogle said the club wanted to host a car­ni­val each year on the Mother’s Day week­end and was keen to at­tract new play­ers.

“We are look­ing for new play­ers but for now we are happy to have hosted a ter­rific car­ni­val,” Ogle said.

“The fields are in great or­der and we say a big thank you to the spon­sors, work­ers, play­ers and spec­ta­tors.
