MONTO Polocrosse Club hosted a successful carnival despite not fielding a team in the event.
The event attracted 14 senior teams and nine junior teams, with about 150 people in attendance.
Teams travelled fromWandoan, Emerald, Calliope, Chinchilla and Nebo-St Lawrence.
The A-Grade finalwas a competitive encounter withWandoan edging out Bauhinia One.
With most teams comprising both male and female players, the strength of theWandoan teamwas reflected in Amanda Moore being awarded Best Lady Player and Jacko Moore taking the Best Gentleman Player.
The Monto club has not fielded a team in almost two years and this is the first carnival they have hosted since.
Monto club secretary Robert Ogle said the club wanted to host a carnival each year on the Mother’s Day weekend and was keen to attract new players.
“We are looking for new players but for now we are happy to have hosted a terrific carnival,” Ogle said.
“The fields are in great order and we say a big thank you to the sponsors, workers, players and spectators.
