Open to heavy vehicles
SANDY Creek Bridge on the Biggenden-Maryborough Rd has been reopened to heavy vehicles after a temporary load restriction.
In mid-April a 20-tonne load restriction was put on the bridge. Further issues with a bridge pylon was identified and TMR reduced the load limit to 10 tonnes in the interest of safety and to protect the asset from further damage.
A Transport and Main Roads representative said these initial bridge and safety repairs to Sandy Creek Bridge were completed last week.
“This has allowed regulation mass vehicles to return to using the single lane structure,” the representative said.
“These temporary works included providing supplementary timber supports tomake the bridge safe for all road users.”
The representative said a bridge crew would return to site at a later date to complete final repairs, and a full day closure will be required.
