Of­fi­cer is mov­ing on

GAYN­DAH Sergeant Lu­cas Hamp­son will sign out for the last time at the end of the week.

The Of­fi­cer in Charge is mov­ing to Toowoomba to take on a new role as Sergeant Shift Su­per­vi­sor.

Gayn­dah’s Se­nior Con­sta­ble Wyatt Telford will be act­ing Sergeant and Of­fi­cer in­Charge un­til a re­place­ment is ap­pointed to the po­si­tion.

There will be ex­tra po­lice of­fi­cers in the re­gion dur­ing this reap­point­ment pe­riod to as­sist.

Sgt Hamp­son and his fam­ily have spent the past four-and-ahalf years liv­ing in Gayn­dah.

“The job has been both chal­leng­ing and re­ward­ing,” Sgt Hamp­son said.

“It’s been a re­ally good ex­pe­ri­ence.

“And it’s been great to get to know the peo­ple through­out the town.”

Serv­ing the Gayn­dah com­mu­nity has had its mem­o­rable mo­ments for Sgt Hamp­son.

The town has been through two dev­as­tat­ing floods, in which the po­lice per­formed piv­otal roles dur­ing evac­u­a­tion and re­cov­ery.
