Officer is moving on
GAYNDAH Sergeant Lucas Hampson will sign out for the last time at the end of the week.
The Officer in Charge is moving to Toowoomba to take on a new role as Sergeant Shift Supervisor.
Gayndah’s Senior Constable Wyatt Telford will be acting Sergeant and Officer inCharge until a replacement is appointed to the position.
There will be extra police officers in the region during this reappointment period to assist.
Sgt Hampson and his family have spent the past four-and-ahalf years living in Gayndah.
“The job has been both challenging and rewarding,” Sgt Hampson said.
“It’s been a really good experience.
“And it’s been great to get to know the people throughout the town.”
Serving the Gayndah community has had its memorable moments for Sgt Hampson.
The town has been through two devastating floods, in which the police performed pivotal roles during evacuation and recovery.
