Climb to remember Walsh
THE first man to climb the mountain that was later named after him will be honoured with a day of celebrations on Saturday, June 1, at Biggenden.
It is now 125 years since the death of Henry Walsh who was an explorer, squatter of Degilbo and later a politician.
Acommittee have organised a program of events from breakfast and registrations at Degilbo Hall before participants find their way by riding a horse or bike or walking to Mt Walsh National Park.
While those interested climb Mt Walsh for others there will be children’s games and ranger display along with an all day sausage sizzle.
At night in the show hall, patrons are asked to dress in period costume for a dinner dance. There will be a bar, camp over dinner, lucky door prizes, historical display, table games, music and dancing.
The event is being sponsored by the North Burnett Council, Queensland Chamber of Commerce Biggenden Branch and Degilbo Hall Restoration & Social Club.
