Event honours Mark

Central and North Burnett Times - - THE BIGGENDEN SHOW -

A HIGHLIGHT of the Saturday afternoon program of the Biggenden Show will be the Stockman’s Challenge in memory of Mark Elliott.

Mark was vice president of the show society and before his death last year he instigated the idea of the stockman’s challenge. He had been working with Belinda Staib to organise this event for the this year’s show.

Mark unexpectedly died in September but everyone is committed to honouring his community spirit and love of horses.

Ms Staib said she had kept the program as close to his ideas as she could.

“We have had a wonderful response with donations,” she said. “It has been unbelievable.”

The Stockman’s Challenge requires competitors to complete a two phase challenge involv- ing a ridden pattern and stockman’s trial. The overall highest aggregate score will take home the beautiful sculpture by Jaye Hall of Western Queensland.

Nominations are still open and there are classes over a variety of age groups.
