Monto netballers keen to get season started
MONTO is about to welcome netball for the 2013 season.
The town’s club just had its sign-on day, with 30 players signed up.
The first training was on Wednesday, and training sessions are divided into 5-10 years at 3.30-4.30pm, 11-12 years at 4.30–5.30pm and 13-15 years at 5.30–6.30pm.
There will be four carnivals this year, and the club will compete in the Central Burnett Challenge involving Monto, Mundubbera, Gayndah and Biloela.
Competition starts in June, with fixtures to be advised.
Club president Tammy Woodward said the club always did well and was confident of future success with the addition of younger players.
“We always do okay and hold our own, and it’s pleasing to see quite a few new young players in the 5-15 age groups,” Woodward said.
Over-15s will play in the senior competition.
Seniors usually play among six teams on a Wednesday night.
The club is still looking for players, so if you want to be involved, come down to the Monto Sporting Complex on Wednesdays at 3.30pm.
AIM HIGH: Sascha Dowling is keen for netball in Monto.
