Skills on field set her apart
STAR athlete Lucy Thompson has been selected to represent the state in Australian Rules.
The Eidsvold girl and Burnett State College studentwas selected for the Queensland under-16 girls’ AFL team.
Her footy skills caught the eyes of selectors after she captainedWide Bay at the under-16 AFL state carnival at Everton Junior Football Club in Brisbane recently.
Thompson played exceptionally throughout the tournament, particularly in defence.
Itwas a highly competitive carnival, and Thompsonwas happy with her efforts.
“I came home with bruises on my arms and legs, but it was all worth it,” she said.
Thompson has played AFL for three years, and played the same carnival last year as vice-captain.
This year she was promoted to captain because of her experience and knowledge of the game.
Thompson has also represented her school in the Central Coast Cobras on two occasions.
