Allan Langer to visit Gayndah
Rugby league legend drops in to watch the Gladiators play this Saturday
THE LITTLE General is coming to Gayndah.
Rugby league legend Allan Langer will be watching the Gayndah Gladiators take on the Eidsvold Eagles this Saturday.
Golden Orange Hotel Motel owner Ken Mogg organised for Langer to visit the rugby league-crazy town.
“We had Mario Fenech and Petero Civonciva up a while ago and that went over extremely well,” Mogg said.
“So we thought we would try and get Alfie. We might get him in the sheds at half time. And if we can get him to run the water to the boys, the crowd would erupt.”
Langer has recently been visiting flood-hit regions and helping out flood victims.
After the game, Langer will

be heading back to the Golden Orange to meet the locals and have a barbecue.
“He’ll be here having a few drinks with the local troops,” Mogg said. “And we’ve got a disco on that night so it should be entertaining. We’re anticipating a fairly large crowd with lots of families.”
Gayndah football commentator Vinny Schmierer will be interviewing Langer in front of the audience. And a video will be screened from 1986, when Langer played a trial game in Gayndah as part of the Ipswich Jets team who took onWide Bay Burnett.
The local junior rugby league players will be lending a hand clearing plates and helping out at the barbecue.
“They’ll get an up close and personal encounter with the little guy,” Mogg said.
“He was very instrumental for Queensland in State of Origin for many years.”
