Gina shines for us
GINA Jeffreys will head- line the Rise and Shine concert in Gayndah.
The concert will take place this Friday at the Gayndah Showgrounds from 4-8pm.
Rise and Shine Queensland is bringing musical tours to regions devastated by the Australia Day floods.
Premier Campbell Newman said he encouraged the community to enjoy a free afternoon of family activities, a barbecue and live music.
“Country singer Gina Jeffreys, acoustic artist Andrew Morris, alt-country solo artist Sue Ray and local songstress Rachel Koster will take to the stage for an afternoon of great Aussie entertainment,” Premier Newman said.
“It will be the perfect opportunity to take a break, reflect on the year and celebrate the Gayndah community spirit.”
Local Government Minister David Crisafulli said the concert was about bringing the North Burnett community together.
“Itwas an initiative thatwe wanted to do just to give the community an understanding that whilst the physical recovery will take a long time, andwhilst the physical recovery is so important, so is the social recovery and mental recovery,” Mr Crisafulli said.
Rise and Shine Queensland tours to 10 communities across the state and is pro- grammed by Queensland Music Festival, led by artistic director James Morrison.
“I am thrilled we have the chance to send so many wonderful performers to join these communities in their celebrations,” he said.
