Cadets group back in ac­tion

THERE was a pos­i­tive re­sponse to the Emer­gency Ser­vice Cadets Pro­gram sign-on at Biggenden on Tues­day night.

When the cadets pro­gram was axed last year, the stu­dents were dev­as­tated.

Ear­lier in the year the State Govern­ment an­nounced fund­ing through the PCYC and a re­vi­talised pro­gram.

On Tues­day night, 19 cadets signed up, ofwhich eightwere new re­cruits.

An­other in­crease was that there were 18 adult lead­ers want­ing to be­come in­volved with their chil­dren, which­was 10 more than last time.

In at­ten­dance was Emer­gency Ser­vice Cadets pro­gram man­ager Jenny Schoof, who had trav­elled up from Bris­bane to out­line the pro­gram.

For­mer cadets co-or­di­na­tor Moira Thomp­son said Gayn­dah was keen to be­come in­volved and they had a pres­ence at the sign-up on Tues­day night.
